LANSING, Mich. (4/8/15)--Patrick McPharlin, who recently retired as president/CEO of Michigan State University FCU, has been named the director of Michigan's Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) by Gov. Rick Snyder.
"His leadership in growing a company based on customer service and strong community relationships will bring great value to this role that connects directly with residents and employers," Snyder said in making the announcement.
McPharlin will take the position at DIFS, which regulates state-chartered credit unions in Michigan, May 18.
He retired from the East Lansing, Mich., credit union in March after 42 years of service, including 14 years as president/CEO.
"Michigan will be well-served with Pat McPharlin at the helm as the new director of DIFS," said David Adams, president/CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League. "Pat's extensive financial services experience and his knowledge of what constitutes an effective 'safety and soundness regulatory balance' will equip him to help financial services companies and their customers thrive in Michigan's growing economy."
