January 14, 2015

HARRISBURG, Pa. (1/15/15)--Pennsylvania Gov.-elect Tom Wolf has selected former state Treasurer Robin Wiessmann to be Secretary of Banking and Securities, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA) reported.

Wiessmann served as state treasurer of Pennsylvania from 2007 to 2009 under Gov. Ed Rendell, fulfilling the remainder of Bob Casey's term following his election to the U.S. Senate (Life is a Highway Jan. 14).

"The association extends its congratulations to Ms. Wiessmann on her nomination," said PCUA President/CEO Patrick Conway.

During her term as treasurer, the PCUA worked closely with the state Treasury Department on the Credit Union Better Choice, a payday lending alternative program.

"We look forward to continuing our dialogue with Ms. Wiessmann and her staff following confirmation," said Conway, who serves on Wolf's Banking Transition Committee.
