EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (2/13/15)--YMCA Camp St. Croix, Hudson, Wis., received a $550,000 grant from the charitable arm of $1.4 billion-asset Royal CU (RCU) to build a new program center.

The building, which will be named in honor of the Eau Claire, Wis., credit union, will house a year-round camp, outdoor education and retreat facility for campers, community organizations and schools.

"We strongly believe that our future leaders need to be socially and environmentally responsible, and the work of YMCA Camp St. Croix does just that," said John Sackett, board president of RCU Foundation. "Our purpose is to create a positive impact in the lives we touch and we think the new program center will make that positive difference for the youth and the community."

YMCA Camp St. Croix Executive Director Amy Schneider said, "This new partnership with RCU will increase our ability to serve our youth and our community."

YMCA camps offer a safe environment for youth and families to experience nature and develop lasting relationships. Camp St. Croix provides youth with hands-on outdoor experiences to foster leadership skills and an ethic of environmental stewardship. The center also offers meeting and event space for the community of roughly 13,000.
