CUNA recently concluded two contested elections for its 2019 Board of Directors. Director terms begin March 11 and will expire at the adjournment of the 2022 CUNA Annual General Meeting.

CUNA wrote in support of a bill Thursday that would update thresholds for certain reporting thresholds contained in the Bank Secrecy Act, calling it a modernization that will give relief to credit unions without impeding law enforcement.

CULedger, a credit union-owned CUSO that focuses on delivering the world’s premier network of one-to-one digital exchange for credit unions, announced this week that it has achieved its goal of $10 million in Series A funding.

Comments on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s proposed Regulation CC amendments are due Feb. 8 and comments on its No-Action Letter policy are due Feb. 11. CUNA will submit comment letters on both proposals.

CUNA wrote to the FHFA Tuesday opposing its proposed Federal Home Loan Bankaffordable housing goals regulations because they specifically exclude credit unions from being eligible to participate in the smaller member participation goal.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia granted in part and denied in part Equifax’s Motion to Dismiss the claims brought against it in the 2017 data breach lawsuit initiated by financial institutions.

The U. S. House of Representatives Tuesday passed H. Res. 77, expressing the sense of Congress that “financial institutions and other companies should work proactively with their customers affected by the shutdown of the Federal Government.”

CUNA and the leagues are calling on credit unions who provided assistance to furloughed members during the government shutdown to fill out a 10-minute survey on shutdown assistance efforts by Thursday, Jan. 31.

CUNA attended the FASB public roundtable meeting Monday, which featured a discussion of the board’s current expected credit loss (CECL) standard, and provided a forum for FASB to gather additional views on the credit losses standard.

Board members and officers of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation were recently elected, have begun working on initiatives for 2019. The board is comprised of seven individuals from Indiana credit unions elected by the Indiana Credit Union League board.
