Foundation accepts JA volunteer award

April 10, 2017

On behalf of America’s credit unions, the National Credit Union Foundation accepted the U.S. Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award for the 2015-2016 school year.

This award was presented by Junior Achievement (JA) USA, an official certifying organization for this award, at JA’s 2017 Volunteer Summit for more than 15,000 volunteer hours dedicated by America's credit unions to Junior Achievement programs.

“Credit unions’ sole mission is to improve the financial well-being of their members,” said Gigi Hyland, Foundation president/CEO. “This award is testament to that dedication and commitment to improve the financial futures of the next generation and strengthen the financial well-being of all Americans.”

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is a U.S. presidential recognition program created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation for individuals and organizations who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer service. JA USA has the privilege of bestowing this degree of honor to organizations with a U.S. presence that provide volunteers to teach JA programs anywhere in the world.

Junior Achievement is a volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade program that fosters work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and uses experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Credit unions nationwide support their JA programs to work collaboratively towards impacting the future leaders of business and their communities.
