‘Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union’ now live in the Carolinas

February 19, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLUMBIA, S.C, and RALEIGH, N.C. (February 19, 2019) – Carolinas credit unions this week have launched digital-first messaging inviting consumers in both states to “Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union,” the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and Carolinas Credit Union League announced today.

Built on extensive research, the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union national initiative is designed to raise consumer consideration of credit unions as a category and dispel consumer myths associated with the ability to join and access to money.

Consumers who engage with Open Your Eyes messaging will move to yourmoneyfurther.com and find more on what drew their interest, such as credit union background and benefits, as well as finders for nearby credit union locations and ATMs/shared branches.

“The enthusiastic commitment and early financial support of the initiative is a reflection of the strong credit union leaders we have in the Carolinas,” CCUL President and CEO Dan Schline said. “We have a great story to tell as credit unions and are excited to see how Open Your Eyes helps us do just that.”

“The Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union initiative is innovative, exciting and an enormous opportunity for all of us in the credit union movement,” said Jim Nussle, President/CEO of CUNA. “Following our first launch in Minnesota, we’re thrilled to continue this national effort in the Carolinas. Today’s launch is the culmination of great CUNA, League and credit union collaboration and is a perfect example of our industry’s cooperative difference.”

Thus far, 26 credit unions in the Carolinas have committed $6.83 million over the next three years to the category-focused initiative.

Credit unions nationwide have committed nearly $28 million over the next three years to bring the campaign to their areas. Leagues and CUNA continue to work hand-in-hand, enlisting financial contributions and providing ongoing initiative support.

Open Your Eyes takes an integrated approach to media, content and data analytics. It uses metrics at every point, enabling continuous testing, learning and refining of the content, media strategy and resources to optimize return on investment.
