Fair hiring bill vote, USAID funding hearing this week

May 9, 2022
Cap1

The House and Senate are both in Washington, D.C., this week. The House will consider legislation including the CUNA-supported Fair Hiring in Banking Act (H.R. 5911), which would replace the current ban on those interested in working in the banking sector with previous minor criminal records.

CUNA wrote in support of the bill when it was passed by the House Financial Services Committee in November.

Hearings CUNA is engaged with this week include:

  • Tuesday, 9:45 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing: "The Financial Stability Oversight Council Annual Report to Congress."
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. ET: House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs hearing: “Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Request for the United States Agency for International Development.”
  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. ET: House Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets hearing: “A Notch Above? Examining the Bond Rating Industry.”
  • Wednesday, 2 p.m. ET: Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing: "Review of the FY 2023 USAID Budget Request."
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. ET: Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing: "Addressing Climate Change with Energy-Efficient and Resilient Housing."
  • Friday 9 a.m. ET: House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government hearing: “Fiscal Year 2023 Member Day Hearing.”
