Illinois credit unions support Ukraine

June 17, 2022
Kyiv

Credit unions across Illinois have provided more than $110,000 for a variety of humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Donations to the Illinois Credit Union Foundation’s Ukraine Fund--including $25,000 in matching funds from Envisant--will go to the Selfreliance Foundation Ukraine Relief Fund.

“The ICU Foundation is proud to be part of the efforts to provide humanitarian support to people in Ukraine,” said Melanie Murphy, ICU Foundation executive director.

Concern for community, the seventh cooperative principle of the credit union movement, was at work in the raising of these funds as credit unions came together locally in support of the needs of the people of Ukraine. The ICU Foundation recognizes the credit union principles as the guiding force behind the good work of our movement; we acknowledge nineteen credit unions for supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine:

  • 1st MidAmerica CU
  • 2 Rivers Area CU
  • Advantage One CU
  • Alliant CU
  • BCU
  • Chicago Patrolmen’s FCU
  • Consumers CU
  • Cooperative Choice Network CU
  • DuPage CU
  • Great Lakes CU
  • Harvard Community CU
  • Healthcare Associates CU
  • IH Mississippi Valley CU
  • KCT CU
  • NuMark CU
  • Partnership Financial CU
  • Staley CU
  • State Farm FCU
  • United Community CU

The ICU Foundation is grateful for the generous outpouring of support and for the substantial contribution made by its Illinois Credit Union System partner, Envisant. The money donated will be channeled to vetted, trustworthy 501c3 groups helping Ukraine.

The ICU Foundation invites readers to learn more about the Selfreliance Foundation and their humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The ICU Foundation also donated $10,000 to the Worldwide Credit Union Foundation’s Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund during March 2022.
