Congressional Federal Credit Union announces death of CEO Cory Montez Hairston

August 21, 2023

Cory Montez Hairston, president/CEO of Congressional Federal Credit Union, died suddenly last week on August 16.  He became president/CEO last October, following 17 years with the credit union.

“Cory was a dedicated and steadfast leader for the credit union and people they served,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “He recognized that Congressional Federal Credit Union has a unique role in credit union advocacy, working directly with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and those working on Capitol Hill. His tireless efforts for credit unions and passion for transparency will be missed.”

Montez Hairston began at the Oakton, Virginia-based credit union in 2005, serving in several leadership roles including interim president/CEO before being appointed to the position.

Montez Hairston is survived by his wife, three daughters and granddaughter.
