California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues held meetings with Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen and Rep. Susie Lee, who represents Nevada’s 3rd district.

Rep. Lee discussed the Credit Card Competition Act, artificial intelligence and stablecoin legislation with credit union leaders. The congresswoman shared about outreach to her office on swipe fees and that she would connect with AI thought leaders at Carnegie Mellon – her alma mater – for help in addressing AI issues.

The League informed Rep. Lee on the credit union priorities around stablecoin: to protect consumers, ensure stablecoin users undergo same rigorous exams as credit unions, and develop federal oversight framework.

Similarly, Sen. Rosen also discussed the Credit Card Competition Act during her meeting with credit union constituents. Sen. Rosen has deep understanding on the importance of fraud protection, and how interchange fees help pay for fraud protection measures, the League shared.

Sen. Rosen also noted she enjoys working with Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, who introduced legislation to exempt credit union loans made to veteran-owned businesses from the member business lending cap earlier this year.
