The House Appropriations Committee is expected to mark up the FY23 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs and Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill starting Wednesday.

The CFPB should extend the comment deadline on its advance notice of proposed rulemaking on credit card late fees and late payments by 60 days, CUNA wrote, as the ANPR issued last week has a 30-day comment deadline.

The House Financial Services Committee advanced two CUNA-supported bills Thursday: the Close the ILC Loophole Act (H.R. 5912) and Downpayment Toward Equity Act of 2021 (H.R. 4495). CUNA wrote in support of both bills prior to the committee’ markup.

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee passed a CUNA-supported bill to authorize the use of remote online notarization and create national standards and protections for its use by a unanimous 22-0 vote Thursday.

Eleven credit union-friendly candidates won primary races in Virginia and primary runoff elections in Alabama and Georgia Tuesday. The Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and state leagues have backed 187 credit union proponents this cycle with a 98% success rate.
