NCUA is monitoring the situation closely and has resources available to help credit unions affected as Lahaina, Hawaii, works to recover from the destruction caused by wildfires. Examiners have been working to stay in contact with credit unions in Maui County, determine their status, and offer assistance as needed.

The Federal Communications Commission should make use of caller ID and require adequate verification of the authenticity of the caller ID information to avoid illegal call spoofing, CUNA, NAFCU, and other organizations wrote in comments filed this week with the FCC.

CUNA, the Cornerstone League, and Rally Credit Union are calling for parity in the treatment of financial institutions that make business loans following a preliminary injunction against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) section 1071 rule.  
The three organizations filed a motion to intervene Thursday with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Credit union officials met with Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Ill., at the Illinois Credit Union League’s Springfield office Monday, discussing the financial services that credit unions provide to the nearly 345,000 credit union members residing in Illinois’ 13^th Congressional District.

Credit union association leaders are working together to delay the CFPB from enforcing and implementing its final rule on section 101 of the Dodd-Frank Act. CUNA and NAFCU wrote a joint letter outlining concerns and requesting the delay of the rule after a U.S. District Court decision.
