International Credit Union Day 2020

To celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day during a year of uncertainty and anxiety, $3.2 billion asset Royal Credit Union, Eau Claire, Wis., asked the community to share stories of hope.

Royal held a contest that allowed members to nominate someone who inspires hope for them.

ICU Day is an international event sponsored by the Credit Union National Association and World Council of Credit Unions, (CUNA) to raise awareness of how credit better the lives of members as their financial partner.

This year’s ICU Day theme is “Inspiring Hope for a Global Community.”

“We want people to take this opportunity to shine a light on a person in their community that truly makes them feel hopeful,” says Jennifer McHugh, Royal’s vice president of community engagement.

“We could all use some inspiring and hopeful stories during the recent challenging times, and our young professionals organization has planned and provided a great way to share those stories.”

The contest ran Oct. 5-12. Nominations were reviewed with multiple winners announced Oct. 15.

Prizes of $25 were awarded to nominators, $50 to nominees, and $100 to the nonprofit of the nominee’s choosing. The first 100 people to submit a nomination received a $10 gift card for participating.
