Last month, the Illinois Credit Union League helped lead America’s credit unions’ presence at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Legislative Summit in Chicago. The summit is the nation's biggest gathering of state legislators and staff.

In the third episode of the CUNA News Podcast. Tom Kane, president/CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League, explains why it's important for credit unions to advocate at the state level.

Later in the episode, Shelton Roulhac, CUNA’s director of advocacy, discusses tracking state legislation across the country and coordinating advocacy efforts with state credit union leagues.

In the podcast, he discusses this year’s election cycle, his roles and responsibilities with CUNA, and his recipe for advocacy success.

“The state level is where we can introduce legislators to the credit union difference,” Roulhac says. “Statehouses are where we can drive the credit union message home.”

Listen to an extended cut of the interview with Tom Kane.
